Reasons to join BIAS
BIAS works in the best interests of our members, and by extension, the best interests of all supporters of Brentford Football Club, to improve the match day experience both home and away
The benefits of joining BIAS are as follows:
- Membership to BIAS is Free. If you are not a member it only takes a few minutes to join
We firmly believe that we are stronger together, and that the more members we represent, the more likely the Club will be able to listen to our ideas and concerns. Just imagine if every member encouraged a colleague, friend or family member who supports Brentford Football Club to join BIAS, how much more we could achieve on your behalf. If you are an existing member of BIAS, your continuing support is appreciated, and we ask you to please spread the word - Membership will give your opinion a voice: BIAS has regular contact with the football club and has formed an excellent working relationship with staff at all levels within the Club. We want to ensure every Brentford fan has the opportunity to communicate with the club and for the club to listen to any concerns they may have
- We are a fully democratic, inclusive, non-profit and independent supporter’s group: We have been in existence since 1998 and feel that we can campaign more effectively on behalf of our members by being independent of the Club. As Brentford supporters, we are very proud of our Club and how it is currently run, both on and off field. We aim to work constructively and collaboratively with the Club, on behalf of our members and the wider Brentford FC fanbase. Our independence is our strength though, and this sets us aside from other support groups This enables BIAS to openly criticise the Club, should supporters not be treated fairly or with respect
- We are accountable to our Membership: We are run by an elected Executive Committee thereby avoiding the possibility of any one individual taking or claiming an autonomous decision-making role. Those on the committee have been elected by BIAS members as their representatives and should the membership wish, they can be voted out at the yearly Annual General Meeting (AGM). By the same token, any member can stand for election to the Executive Committee
- We are run by fans for the fans: BIAS is managed by an Executive Committee who act on behalf of our members. Committee members are elected by the membership in line with the BIAS Constitution. As a result Committee members are fans, the same as any of you and are not paid by or recompensed in any other way by BFC or anyone else
- We have established good working relationships with the Club: As a result of all the above, we have regular access to senior officials within the Club. We also have very open and clear lines of communication with the operational side of the Club to put forward ideas or concerns from our membership to the people that run the Club
- BIAS are co-chairs of the Fan Advisory Board (FAB): The FAB is part of the Premier League’s response to the Government White Paper on Football governance and forms part of their new Fan Engagement Standard. Whilst the FAB itself focuses on the more strategic and long-term elements of the club’s off-field operations, there are multiple working groups that focus on the day-to-day issues that affecting Brentford supporters. BIAS fully participates in all working groups and forums
- BIAS is an affiliate member of the Football Supporters Association (FSA): This provides us with a platform to escalate issues impacting supporters of our club and garner wider support from supporters from across England and Wales
