Brentford Ladies 4 Regents Park Rangers 3

Brentford started the game knowing that a win today would see them move off the bottom of the table. If there was any more incentive to win.

It was the fact that Brentford had lost 2-5 to them earlier in the season in a bad tempered game.

The game got underway with both sides trying to find their feet, the away side having the better of chances early on but never really testing the goalkeeper.

Brentford had a corner with 15 mins played which was swung in by Amber, the keeper wasn’t able to catch it and there was Sara to nod home from close range. This instantly gave Brentford a lift, and the football started to flow. Passages of attacking flare and confidence oozed through the team with shot after shot on the away teams goal. Good work by Hodo down the right hand side saw her get a cross in which found its way to the feet of Lisa Grant who confidently slotted home for 2-0 at half time.

With the 2nd half underway, Brentford knew they couldn’t rest on their laurels, they pressed, won the ball back high up the field and put the away team on the back foot. It was long before after great football being played would see Hodo being put through on goal by Lisa Grant. Hodo confidently struck home to make it 3-0, Brentford looked immense.

Brentford still refused to take their foot off the gas and once again after great link up play with Sara and Lisa Grant, Hodo was again put through on goal with the same result. It was 4-0 within 60 minutes. 3 subs were made, Hodo came off for Geraldine, Charlotte Tanner came on for Neethu and Lucy came on for Sophie L.

Brentford unfortunately couldn’t keep the high tempo that had seen them go 4-0 up which allowed the away team to get back in the game after a defence splitting pass saw the striker bare down on the Brentford goal to slot home.  Not long after, the ball dropped 20 yards out from the Brentford goal and with the Brentford team backing off, the same striker let fly from distance with a spectacular strike.

Brentford looked nervy now and the away team was growing in confidence, another defence splitting pass saw the player put through on goal once again to make the score 4-3. With 8 minutes to play it became very nervy but Brentford held strong to secure their first win and move off the bottom of the league.

Go on you Bees!
