Regents Park Rangers 4 Brentford WFC 2 (GLWL Premier)

On Sunday the Brentford ladies travelled just over Putney Bridge to play against Regents Park Rangers for a league game.

Before the game Brentford Ladies were sitting in 10th place striving to get some points on the table and Regents Park Rangers were sitting just above the Bees with one point.

RPR v BWFC1The game didn’t start off particularly well, Brentford were down by one goal after the first ten minutes with a high shot over the keepers head from just inside the box.

The game settled down for the next twenty minutes but neither team were able to find the correct pass through on goal.

The grass was very long on the pitch so when Brentford managed to get the ball up towards their strikers they were unable to do anything with it.

The ball was hardly kept on the floor and the Bees were not able to get it down to play well and string passes together.

After half an hour Shayni Marriner came off for Naomi Totten. Unfortunately Regents Park Rangers scored another goal.

That’s when the action started. Maria Jones managed to find the back of the net not long after and Brentford were back in the game. 2-1.

A free kick was given Brentfortd’s way when the referee had to consult the linesman about one of their players kicking one of our players off the ball.

The referee ‘did not see’ he incident therefore could not produce any cards. Amanda Osborne sent the ball flying into their box where Lisa beat their defender.

Regents Park Rangers did not take this well and decided to take the Bees Captain out. After a little heated dispute Brentford were awarded a penalty and the player was shown a yellow card. Mollie Holmes stepped up confidently pointing to the right side of the goal and sending the ball into the back of the net left side. 2-2. The whistle blew for half time with a very eventful end to the first half.

The second half kicked off and Sophie Lee came off for Shayni Marriner.

The second half was very scrappy from both sides of play and Rangers got a goal back 55 mins into the game to make it 3-2.

Not long it was 4-2 to the hosts after Becky Collins came running out of goal but was beaten the ball and Sasha Tredaway could not save it off the line.

The bees soon made a triple change, Amanda Osborne, Mollie Holmes, Maria Jones off for Eda Demiralay, Priscilla Camniba and Lisa Board. The game finished 4-2.

Brentford WFC again in training this week and look forward to playing at home against Northwood LFC.
