Brentford made the 50 minute journey over to Woodley United in this Womens’ FA Cup Qualifier Round.
Traffic halted the game kicking off on time and the match commenced at 2.15 with both sides evenly matched despite the 2 league difference.
Brentford had the first meaningful attempt on target, a cross put in by Shayni Marriner had the Woodley keeper scrambling to push it away, the rebound falling kindly to Sophie Troth who tamely hit it back into the keepers arms.
Both teams then had a flurry of chances before Woodley broke the deadlock. A short corner was taken before being crossed into the box for a player to tap it in. Making it 1-0.
Brentford never gave in and made end roads into drawing level but it wasn’t to be before half time.
Second half began with all concerned hopeful Brentford would come out pushing for an equaliser, unfortunately fitness played a key part in the second half with Brentford unable to maintain their high tempo in the first half. Another cross out into 20mins into the second half, a cross was sent into the Brentford box for another tap in.
Brentford made 3 changes to try and effect the game, Priscilla Camnimba replacing Lisa Board, Charlotte St Pierre replacing Eda Demiralay and Lucy Gibson replacing Sophie Troth.
Final score 2-0 to Woodley United.
We wish them all the best of luck in the next round.
