The Alley Cats Jazz Band, are back by popular demand and will be playing at the Griffin Park Jazz Club on Monday 14th April.
We would like a really healthy crowd to pop along to the Hive which will open at 7.45pm
Alley Cats Jazz Band will take to the stage at 8.30 so that you can dance the night away until 11pm or if you prefer, sit at your table tapping your feet.
Alley Cats Jazz Band were first formed in 1970 and has been in its current form for about 15 years. Dave Allison leads the band on clarinet and reeds with Keithy Brown on drums, Geoff Perrin on banjo and guitar, Les Dyos on trombone and Mike Godwin on bass.
They are a fun band and deliberately play a mix of Traditional, Dixieland, Caribbean and Latin American music, with a bit of Pop as well. It’s an enjoyable style and we were treated to many a tune, including: ‘Nobody loves you when you’re down and out’; ‘Coffee Song’ (a Latin American number); Herbie Hancock’s ‘Watermelon Man’ and a great rendition of ‘Brazil’!
There will also be a bonus interval session of Blues with The Crawdaddy Trio who are lead by John Habes fellow bees supporter.
There will be a raffle on the night and the Hive has a Licensed Bard and a dance floor.
The Griffin Park Jazz Club usually takes place in The Hive every second Monday of the month.
