Brentford Women’s produced another fantastic performance in their home league fixture against Regents Park Rangers with a 6-0 win at Lampton School.
Both teams met last season in the cup however it was a much more of closer affair. The first fifteen minutes of the game stated it was going to live up to last seasons billing with Regents Park coming closest only for Caroline Brooks to deflect the shot wide of the post.
Brentford were shaken and that seemed to kick-start the game for them when Lucy Easton’s skill on the edge of the box saw her take a snap shot that looped over the goalkeeper.
Ashley Cheatley shortly added another and Claire Richardson scored the pick of the goals in the first half with a 30 yard screamer.
Regents Park returned in the second half by far the better side however Brentford’s resolute defending saw them keep their clean sheet.
Cheatley grabbed another goal after mis-communication from the defence and goalkeeper, Richardson scored another impressive goal shortly after hitting the cross bar from the edge of the 18 yard box.
With ten minutes to go, Cheatley grabbed a well deserved hatrick. This has seen her move top of the goalscoring table for club and in the league.
Special mentions to Caroline Brooks, Manuela Naprta and Lauren Restel who defended remarkably throughout. Last ditch challenges also from Lisa Grant and Sophie Lee ensured the Bees kept their third clean sheet of the season.
