Brentford Women’s returned to winning ways this weekend with a 5-1 victory over Colne Valley at The Lucan Pavillion.
Both teams took a while to settle into the game despite the Bees winning the possession stats early on in the first half. The breakthrough came 15 minutes into the first half when after good build up play in the midfield saw Ashley Cheatley race clear and find her shot parried by the goalkeeper into Lucy Easton’s path who finished confidently.
Both teams continued to commit players forward in attempt to effect the game in different ways but it was the Bees who struck again just over the half hour mark when Claire Richardson’s desire to drive forward with the ball was rewarded when she grabbed her first goal of the season and Brentford’s second of the game with a screamer from the edge of the box.
Half time came and Brentford looked in total control.
After the hour mark Brentford’s top Goalscorer Ashley Cheatley added a third, shortly followed with a fourth by Lisa Grant. Vicky James grabbed Brentford’s fifth of the game before Colne Valley scored a consolation goal late on.
The Bees find themselves second in the table after three games. Next week they return home with a fixture against Regents Park Rangers.
