Brentford Ladies appeared at Enfield Playing Town on a sunny Sunday morning knowing only a point was needed to win the League Title.

However a draw or defeat from AFC Phoenix in their game against Petts Wood was enough to also see the Bees claim top spot.

The first half began with Brentford totally dominating proceedings as they came close twice with Ash Cheatley lobbing the goalkeeper but seeing her effort fall just wide and Latoya Bailey seeing her effort just miss the top corner.

The Bees came close again soon after but met the Enfield Town goalkeeper in inspiring form as she pulled off a string of magnificent saves to see both sides heading in at the break 0-0.

Brentford changed formation with a view to attack from the off and claim all three points however that move appeared to have backfired when Enfield Town struck to go 1-0 up.

Shortly after Enfield struck again to go 2-0 up and Judith Densu handballed the ball in the penalty box to not only see a red card but for Enfield to wrap up a 3-0 victory.

Despite the efforts to claw it back, Enfield’s quick-fire treble saw them claim a fully deserved victory against the league leaders.

The Bees still won the league with news coming in that AFC Phoenix had drawn to Petts Wood, so there was something to cheer about despite the defeat.

Brentford Ladies are at home to Chertsey next week with a view to send them through to the semi finals of the John Greenacre Memorial Trophy.
