Brentford 3-1 Coventry
Brentford recovered from a goal down to win 3-1 and put some distance between third placed Leyton Orient.
Callum Wilson’s 6th minute goal stunned the Bees into action early on but first half goals from Clayton Donaldson and Marcello Trotta with amissed penalty by Alan Judge, and a second half strike by Alan McCormack gave Brentford the three points in an entertaining game.
In the early stages of the match Brentford were struggling to find their man with the pass and Coventry took the lead due to David Button’s misplaced pass to Harlee Dean that went out of play, and from there Carl Barker worked his way into a shooting chance and although Button saved the shot he failed to keep hold of it and Callum Wilson tapped in from close range.
After the goal Brentford woke up and their usual flowing football was working again and Brentford had a perfect chance to level when Alan Judge was tripped in the box and Gavin Ward awarded the penalty. Judge stepped up and his powerful effort was superbly saved by Joe Murphy who dived to the right to pull off a stunning save.
Despite the penalty miss Brentford did not have to wait long for the equaliser. The goal came on the counter after Brentford blocked the shots of Barker and John Fleck and the ball found Trotta who played in Judge and he set off Donaldson who strode clear of the defenders and slotted the ball past Murphy.
