Following the success for Brentford Football Club with decision by the Planning Committee of Hounslow Council on a new stadium, attention now turns to the Mayor of London who will shortly make a decision on whether to allow the plans to pass as they are, or to “call in” the project in for further scrutiny.
If the Mayor were to call in the plans it could lead to lengthy delays which could jeopardise the viability of the scheme.
Boris Johnson will be making his decision on 30 January and Brentford supporters are being urged to contact the office of the London Mayor URGENTLY to show their support for the Lionel Road stadium scheme.
With this in mind BIAS volunteers will be out in force this coming Friday for Brentford’s televised game against Gillingham. The volunteers will be distributing leaflets which list the contact details for key people in the London Mayor’s office, and will also contain some of the key points that could be used in letters and emails.
The volunteers will also be distributing A4 cards with the simple slogan “YES to Lionel Road Community Stadium” – the same posters which were used to such effect at the Planning Committee meeting in December.
Brentford supporters are encouraged to display the posters at Friday live televised game – so that they can make the best presentation on the TV cameras to demonstrate the strong support for the scheme.
