Despite the excellent vocal support Brentford crashed out of the FA Cup by the odd goal in five at Carlisle.
The Bees played well in the first half and were the better of the two sides. Trotta had a couple of chances and should have done better especially when receiving the ball from Clayton but he didn’t attempt the volley.
Richard Lee pulled of a brilliant save to deny the hosts when he pushed the ball onto the bar but could do nothing just before half time when the Bees lost possession in midfield and the hosts scored with screamer of a shot from the left hand side of the box.
Brentford started well after the interval and for the opening third of the second half were the better team.
Reeves played a lovely through ball to McCormack who’es cross was turned in by the Carlisle defender, Chimbonda.
Miller scored twice for Carlisle in a four minute spell to give the host a 3-1 lead. Millers second goal wasa from the spot when McCormack conceded a penalty which Millar rifled home passed Lee who correctly dived to his right.
A Farid header made it 3-2 but the hosts hung on to go in to the third round hat. Brentford probably deserved a drawer but it was not to be.
