Despite a late rally, the Bees crashed out of the JTP trophy, losing 2-1 to Peterborough.
The first half was a quite even affair. Peterborough took the lead when the ball bobbled in front of Button in the Brentford goal who pushed the ball away but in the direction of the retreating Taylor who could do nothing as the ball hit him and was redirected for an own goal.
The rest of the first half was a pretty match drab affair with Peterborough coming the closes to scoring.
The arrival of Clarke for Fillo had a positive impact and changed the pace of the game.
Calvert making his debut looked assured at the back but errors by others gave him a lot to do and after making what appeared to be a good challenge where he played the ball the ref saw things differently and ‘Boro went two nil ahead from the spot kick.
The Bees pulled one back when Nugent got onto the end of a good cross from Toumani to head the ball home.
The Bees were now playing with their sense of urgency that is annoyingly always reserved until they are behind and really pressured the home goal.
With the strong finish the Bees probably deserved a draw but time ran out and the Bees were put out.
