Lionel Road project still on hold
22nd January 2010

The meeting scheduled for 18 January did not take place. Anderw Howard of HardHat Communications has kindly allowed us to reproduce his email to the Lionel Road Liaison Group.

The project is currently on hold whilst the project team reviews the proposals in light of current market conditions. Since we last met, market conditions have improved slightly however a detailed review suggests that the scheme remains uneconomic at this point in time.

Barratt Homes and the Football Club are continuing to examine the scheme in some detail to narrow the financial gap and to take into account stakeholders concerns. In addition we have initiated contact with the GLA to discuss the scheme’s principals and the our aspirations for delivering its significant benefits to the local community.

Given the above and the fact that there is no more detailed information at present, Barratt Homes and the Football Club do not feel it is sensible to call a meeting when there is nothing new to report. As soon as we believe we have identified some potential options for the project to proceed we will call a meeting to provide a briefing, solicit comments and discuss key issues. We anticipate this will take place within the next three months.
