Greville Waterman sees the Bees end the decade on a positive note.
Brentford ended the year by extending their unbeaten run to four league games with a hard fought and deserved draw against promotion challengers Charlton which saw the Bees gain eight points in a productive December.
The Bees welcomed back Ryan Dickson and started with a 4-4-2 formation with debutant Rhys Murphy partnering Strevens up front.
Charlton bossed the first half with Dickson looking as dangerous as he had for Bristol Rovers at Griffin Park earlier in the season but fortunately he left his shooting boots behind and thanks to a couple of decent saves from Price and profligate finishing the first half ended goalless with Brentford only having a 20 yarder from Murphy to look back on.
The second half saw Brentford finally take the game to the visitors. Cort came on at the interval for Murphy and at last the ball began to stick up front and the Bees began to play.
Their first corner followed and in the scramble that ensued, Bean's sliced shot fell at the feet of Cort - 1-0.
Wood was replaced by Weston who was not fit enought to play two games in three days and his pace and directness helped Brentford look stronger and more of a threat.
But Dickson's pace and power and the trickery of the brilliant Lloyd Sam always threatened. Dickson was brought down by Price for a penalty blasted home by Nicky Bailey.
Sam Saunders replaced Bostock, already booked and looking a potential candidate for a red card particularly with the eccentric D'Urso nominally in charge and it was Saunders who almost won the day when his fierce 25 yard freekick smashed against the bar.
A point each was a fair result and the Bees scrapped hard, defended for their lives and played their football too with O'Connor and Bean keeping possession well.
A good point, a great month and the confidence and organisation is flooding back. The prognosois for 2010 is excellent.
